Changes are a-brewin', my friends...big changes. But to start, we'll look at my blog and my store.
You may have noticed the header on the blog is a little different. That's to coincide and create a similar look to my new on-line store: Matthew D. Smith Comics!
So, why create my own on-line store? The answer is really simple. I've received numerous complaints from people over the past several months about how long it takes the printer I used to ship out the comics they order. I am not blaming the company in any way, whatsoever. It's a print-on-demand service, so it's expected to be some wait. They usually tell people about a month. However, some people have waiting 6 or 7 weeks before finally getting a comic they ordered. So, I decided to skip the middle man, in a way, through this ordering process.
Now, you and everyone you know can go to mdsmithcomics.bigcartel.com and order any of my comics directly from me. I'll even sign them for you if you want. The price is exactly the same and shipping is pretty low. And the best part...I'll ship it out to you within 1 or 2 business days. How's that for speedy?
To mark this occasion, I set up the store's "debut" to coincide with the release of "Simon Says" #2!!
Visit the store, order some cool books, and if for some reason, you see that a comic is "sold out", don't worry...it'll become available again VERY soon.
Til next time,
Matthew

MystiCon is this weekend
Just a quick heads up to everyone...
Jeremy Massie and I will be at MystiCon in Roanoke, VA this weekend (Feb. 24, 25, and 26). This is their 2nd year, and it seems like a decent sized con with several quests spanning sci-fi, fantasy, movie, television, and of course, comics! Jeremy and I will also be on a couple of comic-related panels throughout the weekend. So, if you are withing driving distance, come check out the show...and keep us from hurting some anime folks.
Til next time,
Matthew

ConNooga
Hey, guys,
ConNooga was this past weekend in Chattanooga (obviously). I wasn't feeling 100%, couldn't make the con on Friday, and had to step out a little early on Saturday. Regardless, it was a pretty decent show...not the best I've done (in terms of sales) but not the worst (by far). It does seem like there is an abundance of anime, "browncoats", and steampunks at this con, but hey, to each his own. There were still plenty of comic and horror fans with whom to mingle, and I thank all of them that gave one of my books a shot!
I was fortunate enough to be seated next to CZKWorld Studios' Michael and Kevin. They were super nice, very cool guys, and it's always good to have someone like that next to you at a con. I picked up their debut book, "Corey, The Zombie Killer: Amity Eroded", at the show and it appears that this series is going to bring about an interesting take on the zombie mythos. Check out the stuff these guys are putting out.
An attendee who snagged a copy of "Bee Sting" was Joseph Love. Mr. Love has a zombie novella on Kickstarter, entitled "Kill Town, USA". Seems like a pretty cool concept and he was gracious enough to share some love for "Bee Sting" on his website! Click on the link here to read his mini-review and get the info on his project.
All in all, a decent show and I'm looking forward to next year.
But this weekend...MystiCon in Roanoke, VA.

ConNooga is this weekend!
What's up, tools and toolettes?
Just a little reminder that I will be at ConNooga this coming weekend; the show actually runs on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (Feb. 17, 18, and 19), but I doubt I'll be there on Friday. Regardless, I'll be there on Saturday and Sunday with copies of everything for sale.
So, if you are within driving distance (that means you, Tennessee and Georgia, and maybe even Kentucky, Virginia, Alabama, and the Carolinas), you should come check out the show. Come hang out, talk comics, buy comics, and if you are really awesome, we can hang afterwards.
Coming up...more convention announcements and more release updates.
