So, another SPX has come and gone. Late Sunday is always bittersweet, in that the weekend has been so much fun, but it's sadly coming to an end.
SPX seems to get better each year on multiple levels. The show was expanded to include an extra (full?) ballroom this year with a new table configuration and wider aisles. I can't tell you how much praise I heard about these aspects from exhibitors and attendees. Last year definitely felt cramped at times. From what I know, attendance was even higher this year, but everyone felt comfortable.
Katie Omberg, Jeremy Massie, Jason Pittman, Desiree Pittman, and I had a nice cozy spot along the back wall with plenty of space behind the table. A huge thumbs up to the SPX crew for making this happen for us when we were uncertain if we would be getting a table. Frankly, we all did extremely well. I sold several copies of "Bee Sting" (last time to get it before "Blood-Drenched Creature Double-Feature" comes out), "Simon Says", and "Tales From The Suggestion Box". I was pretty happy to have people come up to me that bought books from me at previous shows and offer me some praise (and pick up a few more).
I managed to score some cool minis and graphic novels. I'll have to write more about those once I've had the time to devour them all! Another great aspect was getting to catch up with some other creators, like Henry Eudy, Rob Ullman, Chris Pitzer, Neil Bramlette, Nathan Fox, and Benjamin Marra.
I'm definitely looking forward to SPX '13. In the meantime, I'll be working on getting some "Simon Says" offerings finished up and the Kickstarter campaign for "Blood-Drenched Creature Double-Feature" is right around the corner...
Til next time,
Matthew
