Hey, everyone!
This Saturday, I'll be at the Nashville ComiCon and Horror Fest in (surprise, surprise) Nashville, TN! Jeremy Massie will be there with me and we'll have all of our goodies. It looks like it's going to be an impressive show, so I definitely recommend checking it out if you are within driving distance. I'll have all of my stuff there for sale... Simon Says, Bee Sting, The Curse of Stranglehold, The Adventurers of Liberty City, Wichita Gravy, Suggestion Box, and other little odds and ends.
Hope to see you guys there!
Til next time,
Matthew

October shows: Nashville ComiCon & Roanoke Valley ComiCon
I've been a little under the weather lately, so that's caused me to be slightly delayed on some projects I wanted to start writing/drawing immediately after SPX. But no worries, they are all coming. I plan to spend a lot of time over the next few weeks polishing off the new issue of "Wichita Gravy", start penciling "The Adventurers of Liberty City" #9, and start feeding Katie Omberg some "Culver" script pages!
In the meantime, I'll be doing two more shows this fall...and that should probably wrap it up for 2011 (but you never know...). I'll be at The Nashville ComiCon on October 1st. It's got a pretty impressive line-up so far, so I think it'll be worth checking out! And I'll be at the Roanoke Valley ComiCon in Salem, VA on October 15th. It's a show I just can't stay away from, with it being the first show I ever did and organizer Chris Garbee just being an awesome guy.
Since both of these shows will be in October, I'll have a special Halloween deal going on...check back soon for more info.
Til next time,
Matthew

SPX 2011 was a success!
Another SPX has come and gone. Much like HeroesCon, this show is like a mini-family reunion for me. I get to see friends I probably haven't seen in the last year or sometimes even longer. Jason Pittman, Desiree Pittman, Katie Omberg, and I were sharing table space. We lucked out and my good friend Jeremy Massie was seated at the next table over, along with other fellow dudes Jason Rainey and Shannon Smith.
It was such a great weekend for so many reasons. I got to hang out all day on Saturday and Sunday with these awesome people as well as catch up with other people, like Benjamin Marra, Holly Foltz, Rob Ullman, and Chris Staros.
And of course, the fact that this was my most successful con to date didn't hurt at all. The Suggestion Box titles do well every year, so that is always a plus. Some people picked up copies of The Adventurers of Liberty City, Wichita Gravy, and The Curse of Stranglehold as well! Bee Sting had it's debut as a mini-comic here (don't worry, an "official" release is coming soon) and between sales and trades, Jeremy and I were only left with a few copies. "Simon Says" did extremely well for me, Jason, and Desiree, and I couldn't be happier. A lot of people seemed to really like the idea behind the story and are interested to see where it goes over the 10-issue run.
I managed to creep away from the table a few times throughout the weekend and picked up some goodies, either through purchases or trades, like...
Get Off The Stage by Jason Rainey
K.K. Freebird by Katie McDermott and Kelsey Sunday
Grixly 18 by Nate McDonough
The Life & Times of Peter Bread by Bort
Gay Kid #3 by Katie Omberg
Hard-Boiled Horror Tales #1 and #2 by Doug Slack
The Naked Heroes #1 by Benjamin Marra
Vacation #1 by Daryl Seitchik
Two Beauties by Jason Rainey
Old Timey Hockey Tales by Rob Ullman and Jeffrey Brown
The Incredibly Fantastic Adventures of Maureen Dowd by Benjamin Marra
Vacuity Zine
Criminal Ink #1 by Wyeth Yates
Infinite Kung-Fu by Kagan McLeod
Thanks to everyone who made SPX 2011 such a great year...definitely looking forward to next year. But now...time to get cracking on new things to write and draw!

SPX is this weekend, fools!
Word, son!
It's time for SPX 2011! I'll be making the trek to Bethesda, MD this weekend to try to sell some of my funny books.
This marks the 3rd time I've set up at the con and frankly, I love it. Like Heroes Con, SPX is becoming like a mini-reunion of my comic family. We've got a full block of tables for all of us this year...me, Jason Pittman, Desiree Pittman, Katie Omberg, and Jeremy Massie!! And of course, many many other cool creators in indie comics.
So, do yourself a favor...come to the show. Buy some copies of Simon Says, Bee Sting, The Curse of Stranglehold, Suggestion Box, The Adventurers of Liberty City, and Wichita Gravy.
